My Reina

What I love about her would not fit in a blog.

She was the adventure that I never thought I would have in UPLB. And it's funny since she started a group of anti-fans with a group of other people who now, a decade or so later are still my friends, nay, my soul mates.

Simply she is our glue. When she is here, we gravitate towards her. She is the Queen to say it plainly, and we all know that what the Queen wants, must be given.

She took our advice and took some time to step out of her comfort zone for a while. To try to be single for a little bit. I am happy to find that she found a part of who she lost after sharing so much of herself with others who may or may not have taken too big a chunk and left her worse for wear.

I love her. So much that the word is beyond that of a sister. She is family. I love her humility at the face of elders but I love her fashionable take on life. I admire her for the many things that she can do, cooking one of the many talents I am never going to learn let alone master. Her creativity flows from her mouth, spills into her wardrobe and lands at the tip of her fingers tapping away at keys on a keyboard. It radiates from her photos and amazes you in her reinaisms.

We are 28, me soon to be more than that. And I wish for her a lot of things. But as always I wish for her LOVE. More of it to keep her from feeling cold and more of it to balance her heart.

I will always be a fan of whatever wild idea she would drag me to do. I think if I didn't meet her and her mom during registration and I didn't have her in my life, college would have been dull, I would have less friends and people will still hate my arrogant loud guts. *Some still do but I don't give a rodent's hindparts*

For all the things that make you unique
For all the things that we love about you and makes you tick
For all the things that you wish to have
For all the love that we hope for you
For all the adventures you have yet to do
For all the times we had, may they never fade
For all the tears and laughter we shared
For all these things and more, I thank you
For all the sparkles and shadows in you, I cherish it.
On this day, I thank the Lord.
For all that is you.

My Bestie and her [The] Pink Tarha

When my friend told me about her new blog entitled THE PINK TARHA, the first thing I thought about was, "What's a tarha?" then I found their secret identity mode was cool. I didn't think at that time that it was a natural way to protect themselves. For me the concept of having to watch what I blogged was foreign. But for her and her co-PinkTarhas there was a risk for what they were about to do.

This blog led me to a lot of things, not the least is an understanding of what the cultural divide means for women who work for middle east countries, it also lead me to PEBA and even having my own blog winning twice, one for Nokia and the other as second place.

When Eyecandy went back home recently, she mentioned that there was in fact talk about having colored tarhas. It seems like a long time ago that they were just doing this for fun and now they are very very googlable. To date I am still confused as to what a tarha really is. But that's just me, I guess.

I hope for them, blog-wise and personally, many great things in 2013 and may they find that their journey is as wonderful as their destination, wherever it takes them.

One for the books

I am still not well from the stomach aches that I have been having lately. And I am too sleepy to blog what happened *blow by blow* *pun intended* but I had a fun-filled rollercoaster ride ELBI-like weekend.

Basically the highlists were

1. I met Reina after she had her rebonding at Market!Market!
2. We stalked JI on his foursquare and Twitter so as not to run into him accidentally.
3. I slept almost the entire Saturday.
4. I met up with Reina at GB3 to start the surprise arrival yesterday.
5. I had to fake a pregnancy to get Hot Mamah and Freedrik to get their ass off Binan and Tarlac.
6. Classic reactions on Aisaak and Fried's part when Reina came in CBTL in GB3.
7. Latecomer Hot Mamah's jaw dropped when Reina walked into our group for surprise part two.
8. We ate at an Italian restaurant I had Chicken Marinara and Creme Brule. *I am now suffering the consequences.
9. We went to Bugsy's to drink smoke and get treated to flaming drinks.
10. We all went home at around 1ish and Reina ended up sleeping over Aisaak and Hot Mamah's place.

There are more stories within these stories, some I won't tell. Others I would reiterate as much as I can. With pictures of course. As soon as Reina gets them uploaded.

As for me, my Polaroid picture would last me a lifetime. And I plan to bring it to work everyday.

Quotes from Friends, Facebook and the Far ends of the universe

Quotes from Friends, Facebook and the Far ends of the universe

I went into this not expecting a happy ending. All I was ever sure of was the moments that you made (and let) me feel alive. And besides, since when are endings a happy occasion? I like rollercoasters. I just hope that you would have the heart (and the balls) to hit 'stop' when my shit hits the fan 'coz you know I'll take this ride over and over again...if it's the only way to know what LOVE is. - (raewinisms)
