NO More SCIENCE for Grade 1?!?

Wait, relax...breathe. Read this first in its entirety before you parentals flip out.

DepEd drops 'Science' for pupils

This is just one of the many birthing pains of the new 12 grade system that they would be implementing soon. It's alarming especially to parents who are used to the old system and who love to overexpose their kids to new information.

There are two sides of the coin here. Let's check both from my point of view, shall we. If you don't want to play this game feel free to read another person's blog. Thanks. 

On the tail side, it is alarming if you don't understand how the whole curriculum from k1 to grade 12 would be revamped. Let's leave it to the experts, shall we. But feel free to educate yourself about it. There are existing patterns all over the world. Let us just pray that they did a good job with the one that is going to be used in our country. Honestly, my sister is going to get affected so I worry about her and her peers. She said that waiting for sixth grade to be over is already boring the hell out of her but the idea of 12th grade is just truly haunting.

On the heads side, this just might give a better chance for children to learn more. This can also open a can of maggots to compliment the can of worms that the educational system might already be at a less private level. Schools across the country that are lacking in teachers, rooms and materials are going to suffer more, we know this.

But back on the topic. Science is a great subject, I am a geeky kid growing up and was a SciMath member when I was in grade school. Studying Science at such a young age complemented my insatiable curiosity. It would totally suck if that open mind would not be shaped to accept the basic stuff that makes the world go round. 

Seriously, nothing is more fun to a little girl that knowing how a butterfly came to be. 

 

How fare you train-taking friends? : LRT and MRT fare hike

I am actually glad that I take the bus in the morning. I chanced upon a link in my plurk timeline about the LRT, MRT fare hike  being approved. I used to take the train a lot when I was in the PM shift while working for E-Lamp. For a person who is claustrophobic it's hell to go to work by MRT. But the alternative was to spend two hours on the bus during lunch hour so there was no real contest.

But for the millions of commuters who will be affected by this price hike, I wonder what they would have to give up just to adjust their budget. I know it's long overdue and I know that they only reason why we didn't get this hike a long time ago was because it a political move for Arroyo. But Mr. President, I just want you to reassure all of us that the next time we walk in and out of the MRT or the LRT, at least there wouldn't be grayed walls of dust and those odd hiccups that cause us our attendance incentives. 

We don't have a choice but to shoulder what the government slowly refuses to shoulder. But make sure that we get more from this than those who run the tracks. You have yet to show us any beef of your promise to battle against corruption and raise those who are below the poverty line. 


With this decision, although sound from a business point of view, you might just put more people back on their feet, literally, since they can't afford the train fare.

HIV CASES increasing

This is a bit allarming.

I know that some, not just call center agents get this kind of rep for casual sex. I have been in at least two seperate ones, one in Makati and another in Batangas. I must say that the hormones do tend to dictate the sexual mood in those places. And don't get me started on the "interpersonal" relationships that people get into.

I just hope my friends stay smart on who they associate themselves with.

I am all for expressing your sexuality and doing what you want with your body. But there might come a time when an HIV test would be part of the medical. That would just be a bit...too much.

I don't know where she got her education but in behalf of all the students in the whole world who had teachers who mentored us to be the holistic awesome people that we are, we apologize to Osang's former teachers from all levels. Perhaps she would never apologize to you but I would. You obviously got your work cut out for you when you taught her once upon a time. Don't be saddened that you have seemed to not have left a mark in this woman's morals or intelligence. Surely, you had other students who appreciated your efforts and went on to become decent and morally steadfast individuals. Sure, they didn't become an entertainment icon and now a has-been but perhaps they made a contribution to the world in general as a good person who didn't look down on the most noble of all professions.

Even the greatest kings and leaders had mentors. Teachers are the most influencial members of society. And perhaps if it wasn't for the people who mentored and "repeated" truths, knowledge and ethics to those men and women, the world would not have had heroes, martyrs and saints.

I am sure that in your path in finding the Lord you have stumbled upon one of his more famous titles. TEACHER. Even Jesus was a teacher.

Pity you for not being able to remember that and understand that the insult you spit out oh so recklessly did not just cause a rather entertaining show to get suspended, but also made a mockery of your own worth as a person.

I am personally appaulled. I am a teacher. I came from a family of teachers. I am sure there were children that you have tainted with your words. May their teachers be able to erase that stain. Perhaps it's true that a student needs to surpass their teacher in order to be great. I guess your teacher was far too great for you to surpass. Because you have a lot to learn, missy.

Expiry date on Marriage would make couples lazy

If this proposal becomes an actual law there would be at least two or three people who would benifit from it. One would be a woman whose husband cheated on her several times and even gave her an std while she was pregnant. One would be a man who can't get an annulment because his ex-wife wants to keep him miserable despite the fact that her family drove them apart and she destroyed their marriage contract. Then the last one would be me. If this whole thing pushes through, I would not be afraid to get married. At the very least I would have one reason to go on with it. I have been a commitment-phobe since I was in sixth grade. I had known since that time that I would not marry anyone willingly. (I am not eliminating shotgun weddings. Batangas is pretty well-known for this case to be rampant.) If I only have ten years to be with anyone, if he is someone who I thought would be loyal and loving but turn out to be a cheating bastard, then I can move on with my life. And if he (for fairness sake I will say this) finds me too loud (Yes, I am a nag.) then he can either put on earphones or let the license expire.

I am not a lawyer nor do I know much about the law surrounding marriages, but I think this would open a whole can of worms. It would need so many other changes to be implemented or made in the present laws regarding legitimacy and such.

But what I am really trying to say is that, people would start being lazy. Couples would not work as hard as they would if they knew that they can get out of the marriage anyway. This would just make one more line in the municipalities and people might end up forgetting to do it. They'd end up realizing they forgot by the time one of them dies. And then what happens?

Really, don't we have other laws that need to be passed? Women have more pressing concerns, don't we?
